Katelyn (Kate) R. Sheehan, PT, DPT, ATC, PCES | Physical Therapist
Kate began her career in physical rehabilitation with the completion of a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware in 2013. Afterward, she went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in 2017. Kate has completed orthopedic and pelvic therapy coursework, including from the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute (Pelvic Floor Function & Dysfunction) and the Prague School (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization for Women’s Health).
Kate discovered her passion for pelvic floor physical therapy while working at an orthopedic clinic as an undergraduate. There she discovered that many patients withheld problems such as incontinence, prolapse, and pain because they feared embarrassment, believed their condition was something they needed to live with, or simply did not understand how the problem impacted their broader health. |
Kate believes in teaching people that talking about their pelvic floor is not embarrassing, but critical to their well-being, and she strives to educate patients about how pelvic health impacts pain and function throughout their body. Kate’s treatment philosophy combines exercise, manual therapy, and mindfulness to help her patients discover their body’s amazing potential, regardless of whether they are concerned with completing daily tasks or improving athletic performance.
Kate strives to help people of all ability levels feel comfortable in every aspect of their lives so that they can get back to what they love doing. Her priority in treatment is to equip patients with the tools and confidence needed to regain control of their bodies and achieve their goals by addressing their main concerns.
Fun Fact: Kate is frequently training for half marathons and triathlons – her goal is to run at least one half marathon in every state! You can help motivate her by asking how her training is going.
